Sudsi Abdirahman Yusuf

Sudsi Abdirahman Yusuf, 21, works as a laboratory assistant at Hargeisa Hospital, Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006. Hargeisa's marketplace is teeming with female business owners, challenging assumptions about the subservient role of women in Islam. The Muslim woman is accorded full spiritual and intellectual equality with man, and is encouraged to practice her religion and develop her intellectual faculties throughout her life. God says: 'Whosoever performs good deeds, whether male or female, and is a believer, We shall surely make him live a good life, and We will certainly reward them for the best of what they did" (The Qur'an 16:97).
